K20 QUEST Audition Information and Audition Script

Background

The K20 GEAR UP for LIFE (Learning and Investigating Future Education) project is a partnership between the K20 Center for Educational and Community Renewal (K20 Center) and 28 high-poverty, mostly rural schools located in 23 Oklahoma school districts. The partnership seeks to directly impact 8,258 students through a 7-year project beginning with 6th and 7th grades in October 2023.

 

QUEST App

The QUEST app is being developed to offer support for both parents and their students as they navigate post-secondary education options. The QUEST app is a micro-learning app that provides timely support for parents as their students progress through secondary education. The K20 Center is developing a combination of video, animation, and interactive elements to engage parents and support micro-learning through the QUEST app.

 

Character Roles

The K20 Center is seeking actors that are representative of our diverse group of parents. These actors would be part of a pool of actors that would be included in a variety of courses developed for parents. Additionally, the K20 Center is seeking bilingual, native Spanish speakers to contribute to Spanish language QUEST videos.

 

Compensation

QUEST video shoots primarily take place on the OU campus and last for a half day. Compensation for these video shoots is offered at a rate of $250 per half day. As lessons are continually developed, we plan to rotate through a pool of actors. This project is ongoing over the next 5 years, and we are seeking actors who are available to work multiple video shoots within that time period.

GEAR UP career exploration events expose students to a variety of career options.

 

Career clusters are at the center of these events. A career cluster is a group of related jobs and industries that share skills and interests. Think of career clusters as ways to organize different types of careers into categories. For example, careers like an architect or electrician would be grouped in a construction cluster. Jobs like nursing and counseling would be categorized as human and health services.

 

GEAR UP works with your student’s school to determine each student’s interests and strengths. With this information, GEAR UP organizes events featuring clusters that are of interest to the school’s population.

 

These events both help students consider different career choices and guide students to investigate various career pathways that align with their interests.

Los eventos de exploración de carreras de GEAR UP exponen a los estudiantes a una variedad de opciones profesionales.

 

Los grupos de carreras están al centro de estos eventos. Un grupo de carreras es un grupo de trabajos e industrias relacionados que comparten habilidades e intereses. Piense en los grupos de carreras como formas de organizar diferentes tipos de carreras en categorías.
